In the center of Orange County, surrounded by supportive businesses and successful ROP alumni, is the Central County Regional Occupational Program (CCROP) which annually provides tuition-free career training to more than 15,000 high school students and adults. ROP utilizes industry-experienced instructors and has training in more than 80 different careers. Within a year after their training, approximately 85% of those who complete secure employment or pursue additional education. Using state funds, ROP responds to current and future job market demands, thereby providing business and industry a specifically trained, immediately productive pool of skilled employees. Success starts at ROP! Orange Sunrise Rotary sponsors a "ROP Student of the Month" program. Each month, deserving students and their instructors are honored at a special breakfast. The students are given an opportunity to share their success stories and are awarded with a certificate of merit and a scholarship check. As business leaders, Rotarians share their skills and expertise through vocational service, one of the Four Avenues of Service. Your vocational service efforts can play a vital role in improving the quality of life for those hardworking members of the community who need direction and expertise. By participating in any of a number of vocational service activities — mentoring, career days, vocational awards, business assistance, or even talking about your job at a club meeting — you can turn your experience into an invaluable resource for others. |
