Orange Sunrise Rotary members come from a variety of backgrounds and businesses. The club includes teachers and lawyers, contractors, skilled mechanics, real estate professionals, printers and graphics professionals. Rotarians use these skills to directly benefit the community by donating their time and talent to local residents, students and schools.
Literacy and numeracy are essential to vocational and career success. Rotarians support a variety of programs to promote literacy. Orange Sunrise is a charter supporter of the Los Angeles Times "Reading by 9" program, participating in book drives each year. The club also purchases books for donation to local schools and has supplied more than 15,000 books to Orange County schoolchildren.
Orange Sunrise contributes money and volunteers to support science and vocational education for local children, high school students and young adults. The club funds scholarships and grants for students and teachers in the Regional Occupational Program of Central Orange County. Several Rotarians serve on the ROP business advisory board, helping to develop the curriculum for local vocational programs.
Rotarians recognize the worthiness of all useful occupations and work to provide opportunities for everyone, of every ability. Orange Sunrise supports California Elwyn, a non-profit organization that provides training and job placement for persons with disabilities.
